Here We Go

I've created this weblog so we can chronicle and record our adventurous bible-in-a-year reading plan. Many people would start such an endeavor on page one of Genesis and read until finishing a year later with the book of Revelation (or, if my experience is common, an excruciating month later in Deuteronomy). While that plan makes logical, practical and chronological sense, we have no such reasonable intentions.

We've alphabetized. That's right. 1 Chronicles to Zephaniah. As Chris Carpenter would say… game on!

A wise brother named Dooley reminded us that an inspired brother named James admonished us to not just read and understand God's words intellectually, but to obey them as well. Since hearing is the easy half the battle, let's pray for each other the way Paul prayed for the Ephesians:

I ask--ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory--to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for Christians, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him--endless energy, boundless strength!
